THE RAF MISSION
The Rebel Athletic Fund, the sole athletic fundraising division of UNLV, solicits funding for the benefit of more than 400 student-athletes in the UNLV Athletics Department. By fostering an environment of community support, funds raised create opportunities for successful sports programs on a national level, allow student-athletes to demonstrate excellence in academics with increased graduation rates, and enhance team spirit, visibility, and the reputation of the Department of Athletics and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

YOUR GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Your contribution to the Rebel Athletic Fund is an investment-an investment in human capital. Our student-athletes are working tirelessly towards achieving their academic goals and athletic aspirations. As a member of the Rebel Athletic Fund, you play an integral part in their achievements by giving them the opportunity to excel in the classroom and on the playing field.

Funds from the RAF provide assistance to the following areas that are imperative for our Athletic programs to remain competitive with the rest of the nation. Most importantly, it matches the commitment of our student athletes to make their dreams of a successful college career, both academically and athletically, a reality:

· Scholarships and other financial assistance
· Summer School fees to assist with graduation retention
· Academic Support Services
· Team travel expenses
· Travel expenses for recruiting future Rebels
· Building and maintaining quality facilities

Ways to Contribute
The RAF wants to make giving as convenient as possible for our members. We offer flexible payment plans, and a variety of ways you can make your donation that will help you reach the level of giving you desire to achieve.

Cash gifts
Gifts of cash are recorded and acknowledged through the RAF and UNLV Foundation. Checks should be made payable to the UNLV Board of Regents.

Credit cards
We accept donations given on your credit card. The following cards are accepted: Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

Matching Gifts
Matching Gifts are available when a company will match an employee's contribution. RAF members are eligible to receive credit for priorities from their personal gift and the company's contribution. Check your company's particular policies and enclose the companies matching gift form with your check. To find out if your employer does or does not match donations to athletics, check with your human resources department.

Bequests

Non-Cash Gifts
Non-cash gifts to the RAF may include appreciated securities such stocks, bonds, and real estate. Products and services, gift-in-kind may also be donated for use by the UNLV Department of Athletics.

All Rebel Athletic Fund members are invited to the Rebel Experience for a pre-game tailgate party to celebrate the kick-off of the 2005 football season and the first home game vs. Idaho. Bring the family for food and drinks! The party begins 1 ½ hours prior to kick-off. The Rebel Experience area is located just north of Sam Boyd Stadium. Please RSVP by September 2nd by calling 895-1533.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS -- RAF

Why give to the RAF?

UNLV Athletics is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in Division I. With membership, and an increase of demands placed upon our student-athletes, there must been a continuous rise of expenses. To provide the resources our student-athletes need to excel in the classroom, and stay competitive on a national level, we are forced to supplement our 17 sports with outside funding.

Can anyone join the Rebel Athletic Fund?

YES! Anyone can join. There are membership levels ranging from $100 to $20,000 and above to accommodate everyone's personal and corporate giving ability.

Does contributing to the RAF count towards my seats for Men's Basketball and Football?

Yes. To be eligible to sit in various areas in the Thomas and Mack Center as well as Sam Boyd Stadium, a contribution is necessary along with your purchase of season tickets.

Is there a tax benefit if I contribute to the RAF tax deductible?

Yes. A donation to the RAF is considered a charitable deduction. You are allowed to deduct 80% of the contributed amount. Federal law requires you to reduce the amount based on the donor benefits. Please consult your tax advisor about any questions you have on charitable giving.

What makes a person a current donor?

If you make a pledge within the current calendar year (January 1st-December 31st) you will be 'active' in the RAF. A gift designated "unrestricted' entitles you to receive full benefits that correspond with your total level of giving.

Who do I contact if I have additional questions regarding priority seating and RAF contributions?
