Pack The Mack On Saturday
Feb. 6, 2008
LAS VEGAS -
The UNLV Athletics Department will host a Kids Festival, which will take place at Cox Pavilion, just prior to the UNLV men's basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 9, against Colorado State, which is also Pack The Mack day. The game begins at 3 p.m., while the Kids Festival starts at 1:30 p.m.
Balcony tickets for Saturday's game are just $7, and anyone with a game ticket may attend the free Kids Festival. Festival activities include an inflatable bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, a UNLV inflatable and a chance to shoot hoops with and get autographs from Runnin' Rebels Beas Hamga and Tre'Von Willis.
A bounce house will be at the Kids Festival on Saturday at Cox Pavilion. Also, former UNLV men's basketball players will be on hand along with UNLV's mascots Hey Reb and Lil' Reb, and members of the UNLV cheer and dance teams. Runnin' Rebel Legends confirmed to be in attendance include Eric Booker, Richard Box, Stacey Cvijanovich, Chancellor Davis, Ken Gibson, Keith Starr and Leon Symanski.
Hey Reb will be interacting with the kids at the festival. The first 500 kids through the Cox Pavilion doors at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 will receive free UNLV merchandise, which includes t-shirts, car flags, autograph books, pom poms, hats and visors. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to the Kids Festival and concessions stands will be open starting at 1:30 p.m.
An obstacle course will also be at the festival for the kids. Pack The Mack day is sponsored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Thomas & Mack Center doors open one and one-half hours before the scheduled tip time, which will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Cox Pavilion is located adjacent to the Thomas & Mack Center and is connected with a walkway on the concourse.
Lil' Reb wil also be there on Saturday. Pack The Mack day is held annually for UNLV men's basketball and is an effort to pack the Thomas & Mack Center with Runnin' Rebel fans to generate the largest home attendance of the season.
"We hope fans take advantage of this offer to see an exciting college basketball game," UNLV head coach Lon Kruger said. "Our fans created an important home court advantage for our players last season and continue to do so this year. The crowds have really impacted the outcome of our home games and we need that support in keeping the Thomas & Mack Center one of the toughest places in the nation for opponents to play."
Tickets may be purchased by going to UNLVRebels.com and clicking on the "tickets" link, by calling 702-739-FANS (3267) or at the Thomas & Mack Center Ticket Office. The ticket office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Also, Rebel Fun Packs are available and include four balcony tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for just $50 for any remaining UNLV regular-season home game.
Additionally, group tickets are available for $9, $8 and $7. For group ticket information, please call 702-895-1223.
