Bonney Goes To NCAAs
UNLV senior Kim Bonney will be swimming in three events in this week's 2008 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. This year's championship is being held from Thursday through Saturday at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio. [ + ] UNLV assistant coach Ben Loorz will be providing and on the deck view of the action from every day of the 2008 MWC Championships. His report from the first day follows. [ + ] The UNLV men's swimming and diving team cruised to its fourth straight Mountain West Conference title, as the Rebels won four events on the final day to easily top second place BYU by 157.5 points. UNLV would finish the four-day meet winning a total of 14 of 21 events, while setting four new MWC records as well. On the women's side, UNLV earned team runner-up honors by scoring 622 points, and also won three events on the final day. The Rebel women also posted five new league records over the championship meet. [ + ] The UNLV men's swimming and diving teams won four events, two in new conference record times, to extend its lead in the team standings on Friday night on the third day of the 2008 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Oklahoma City Community College. UNLV finished the night with 575 points and a 102-point lead over second-place Wyoming, while the Rebel women won three events and set one MWC record to move into second place with 432 points, 112 behind first place BYU (544). [ + ] The UNLV men's swimming and diving teams completely dominated action on the second day of the 2008 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Oklahoma City Community College, winning four of the day's five events to move into first place with 306 points. The Rebel women meanwhile moved up two spots and currently are in third place with 214 points after claiming wins in three events. [ + ] The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for a total of three relay victories as the first day of action concluded at the 2007 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Oklahoma City Community College. UNLV stands in second on the men's side, and fifth in the women's standings. [ + ] |
